  • Variety of activities.
  • Excellent facilities and resources.
  • All ages welcome.
  • No previous experience required.
  • A chance to meet other members of the community.

The type of workshops available are unique, in that they offer a one day course of unusual creative and learning skills, enabling you to get a taste of something new without being committed for months at a time. This offers you a chance to meet new people and individual artists from the wider area.

The programme this year is again highly creative with many original and unusual ideas. Adult workshops are run by professional artists and practitioners who offer high quality activities and provide great value learning experiences.

If you would like to book a place on one of our workshops please email us at or call Liz on 01949 863044. If you would like to offer your services to run a workshop for us or would like to make a suggestion for a future workshop please feel free to contact us.

Wet Feltmaking
with Artist, Laura Mabbutt

In this brand new workshop you will learn the art of wet feltmaking using a resist to create a unique seamless bag. You will learn how to cut the resist to your desired shape and size before selecting from a rainbow of coloured wools to create your chosen bag design. You will be guided in the process of layering the wool to create the desired effect and colourway before wetting and felting the wool, then finishing and moulding your bag. Afterwards you will create a bespoke handle and hand-felted embellishment such as a flower or beads with which to decorate your bag.

Mosaics - But Not As We Know It
with Artist, Andrew Wynne

An exciting workshop focusing upon the creative potential of mosaic. This is a workshop that combines traditional material choices and techniques with newer, creative alternatives. Everyone will create a mosaic on a 30cm square hardwood ply base, which when completed, can be displayed inside or outside.

A structured, friendly approach with ongoing tutor demonstrations and guidance, visual and written resources and mosaic examples: history, design, cutting of ceramic and glass, materials choices, mosaic construction, outlining, grouting, cleaning and finishing.

All tools and materials are provided, but you are welcome to bring along any materials of your own to personalise your mosaic, ie: beads, coloured glass, ceramic pieces.

This workshop is suitable for beginners as well as those wishing to further develop their skills and knowledge. You are encouraged to give some thought to your designs, without overthinking it, and be open to the idea of spontaneous creativity on the day, making creative choices in response to the stimuli during the workshop.

Please wear old clothing and bring a large bag to take home your creation.

Beautiful Glasswork
with Glass Specialist, Stevie Davies

Our popular fused Glass workshop returns. A wonderful opportunity to join this established workshop where you can create your very own unique bowls, dishes and free standing curves. Use various metal inclusions such as wire and shim along with coloured glass details to create your own intricately designed glass art.

Learn the technique of cutting and layering glass sheets to produce your own designs which will be fired over a specialist mould to create your choice of form. Pieces created at the workshops will be taken back to Stevie’s studio, fired and brought back Toot Hill School for collection.

Bring along any imagery as inspiration or have a look at the samples in the workshop. With an emphasis on colour and line, your creations can be as detailed, simple, abstract or quirky as you wish. There are a number of options for you to create at least 2 or 3 pieces in the workshop depending on your chosen design.

Please don’t hesitate to contact us to discuss any queries you may have, big or small and make sure to visit Stevie's Facebook page to find lots of photos of past students creations, just search Stevie Davies Contemporary Glass Art.
